Youth Group boycotting SONA!

After I’ve done my daily exercise routine, I’d watch news for the latest “commotions” happening in the country. I was quite shocked that a group of young people are planning to boycott our Presidents’ State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28 this Monday.

According to the group, their way of sabotaging Arroyo’s SONA is to turn-off all electronic gadgets that would eventually stop the people from hearing the allegedly “annual litany of deceit”.

“This is a direct form of protest against the illegitimate Arroyo government. Let us not allow our TVs, radios, Ipods, and computers be infected by Mrs. Arroyo’s lies this SONA,” YAD said.

The group urged all Filipinos not to “hear or see no evil,” this coming Monday.

Another bold statement coming from the group was “In a time of a grueling economic crisis, watching or listening to Ms Arroyo is an awful waste of electricity and money,” the group said in a forum dubbed “Youth SONA 2008.”

From what they’re planning, they’re just going to instigate something unnecessary.

During the recent State of the Nation Address by US President Bush, a woman was being rude as she yelled and was loudly protesting while Bush was doing his speech. As the guards escorted the woman out of the vicinity, Bush simply said “We believe in Freedom of Speech”. Hope this will not happen to Arroyo’s State of the Nation Address.

How’d I wish Arroyo has an Assassination Squad, like for instance ANBU short for ANsatsu Senjutsu Tokushu BUtai (literally Assassination Tactics Special Military Force) Then i’d join them and will cold-heartedly kill these people who stands in the way and always instigating something.

Do the surveys really speak?

Just recently a survey institute called Social Weather Station had just presented the latest survey pertaining to President Arroyo’s governance. President Arroyo only attained a negative 38% satisfactory rate. As we all know, the Palace comes to the rescue as they gave a pertinent remark to the said survey.

The survey described the President as the “most unpopular leader” since democracy was restored in 1986 was uncalled for, he said.

Indeed, these polls and surveys are just plain rubbish and utterly useless. It’s not that the President would have a dime every time she’d hit high satisfaction rate. I mean jeezz louise!, the surveys don’t mean anything!

This statement made me nod when Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita setted things straight as he said that “We must always do what is right, we must act ... in a way that will address the problems of our countrymen, and not what is necessarily popular because one can be popular but it does not necessarily mean that what one is doing is right,”.

For the past months, we all observed that our President had given her tremendous effort in helping our countrymen. Like the recent rehabilitation and typhoon relief, overseeing antipoverty projects.

Surveys are not precise in the first place and they do not speak the majority of the people.

For the people who are anti-gloria, instead of whining like a kid, just shut your pie-holes! Like it’s freaking easy to run a country! People who complains a lot on how the government should run the country and not appreciating what she had done for the countrymen are pathetic! You know who you are!

Its all about the he says she says bullsh*t! How do you like that? Huh!

Filipinos gets into freak mode!

You've probably received e-mails or text messages about the said July 18 earthquake. Before you start wetting your pants there, let's look at some information i've gathered.

Some Brazilian clairvoyant dude named Jucelino Nóbrega da Luz foresees an earthquake hitting the country on July 18, 2008 with a whopping 8.1 magnitude. A magnitude that strong could kill thousands of people like what happened in Sichuan, China that hit them a 7.9 magnitude, obliterating almost everything and killed 70,00O people.

That's a lot of dudes and dudets being killed by a 7.9 magnitude, now imagine an 8.1 magnitude?

These e-mail and text messages is spreading like a disease, faster than an Anthrax. Correct me if i'm wrong, i'd stand corrected, whenever we received texts' like these, Filipinos usually gets into freak mode, running around screaming (naked)..maybe, but let's not dwell on that thought.

Let's set the record straight, even the best seismologist can't predict an earthquake not alone some punk ass Brazilian psycho..i mean psychic.(LOL).

PHIVOLCS Director Renato Solidum Jr. said "Many Filipinos tend to be alarmed when receiving e-mails or text messages warning of a supposedly imminent quake because they put more weight on prophesies than scientific analysis".

We should just chill, if we die, we die. Like the old saying goes "Que Sera, Sera"

Chech out this site http://www.martin-wagner.org/prophecies.htm, it contains detailed information about the Brazilian psychic dude.

Got Food?

According to the United Food and Agriculture Organization (FAQ), a whopping 50 million people were added to the lists of hungry last night due to the never ending price increase.

The FAQ stated that the global crisis is a combination of rising demand of agriculture products since population growth is rapidly increasing and economic development in rising countries, the rapid expansion of food crop-based biofuels and climate change, in particular drought and floods.

Our government should invest in infrastructures particularly to agriculture cause i've noticed that most of the government's fund will just go the AFP, PNP or DILG in sustaining supplementary needs in a never ending war against the rebels.

FAQ Director-General Jacques Diouf said that " Poor countries are feeling the serious impact of soaring food and energy prices. We urgently need new and stronger partnerships to address the growing food-security problems in poor countries. No single institution or country will be able to resolve this crisis", at the European Parliament in Brussels.

The leaders of different countries should step-up in lending a hand to those poverty-stricken countries.

The world is losing 5 million to 10 million hectares of agricultural land every year due to severe degradation plus adding climate changes thus making lives of the farmers a living hell since climate has a vital role in gaining crops. Farmers must given modern inputs, post production facilities and rural infrastructure since they're the one's that do the harvesting.

FAQ also noted that the world agriculture will also have to address major challenges like water control and climate changes. It's alarming, knowing that the water supply is decreasing and water is very limited since there are more that 1.2 billion people today who are living in river basins, thus the area drained by a river and its streams.

The FAO said the existing situation is a result of the international community’s neglect of agriculture in developing countries for a long time.

The UN should act fast before the situation gets out of hand in the future.

The People's Champ awarded with a command plauqe

Camp Aguinaldo grandstand was jam-packed on Sunday when Boxing Champ Manny Pacuiao was awarded by Military Chief Gen. Alexander Yano with a command plaque. Manny holds the highest rank for enlisted personnel.

Being a reservist Army, Manny is very proud to be one and would brag about it even in America. He would even fight alongside with his fellow comrades but that wouldn't happen cause Manny's superior won't allow it cause he just might end up challenging the rebels to a round of boxing.

As a kid, Manny's dream was to be a soldier but ended up as a boxer instead. Grateful, cause he was given a chance to be a reservist Army. Manny Pacuiao is thankful to his long time friend Military Chief Gen. Yano as they have been friends since Yano was still a colonel, a commander back then of the 602nd Infantry Brigade based in his hometown of General Santos City as Manny was still starting to break in the international scene.

Philippine joins Transatlantic Migration Forum

The Philippines will be joining 23 other nations in the first annual Transatlantic Forum on Migration and Integration (TFMI) to be held in Europe, near Nuremberg, Germany on July 9 to 13, 2008. The forum is being sponsored by the German Marshall Fund (GMF) with support form Robert Stiftung in Germany.

The Philippines representative is Merliza M. Makinano, Vice Head of DOLE Task Force on the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD), and is currently the deputy executive director of the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS).

The forum intends to demonstrate the global importance of migration.Migration plays a huge role in the country. Officials said that for the first five months of 2008 alone, 516,466 documented overseas Filipino workers or OFW's have been globally-deployed to more than 190 destinations. The global dollar remittances of OFW's had reached a whopping US$5.4 billion from January to April this year. The numbers alone proves that the Philippines is active in pursuit of global immigration and produces skilled OFW's.

The forum will also cover workshops on current issues such as migration and development , asylum and refuges, migration and security, media and the public discourse on immigration and local integration policies, along with a visit to the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, and meetings with non-government organizations working on integration projects.

The forum will be participated by representatives form Philippines, Bulgaria, China, Denmark, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Gambia, Senegal, Spain, Tanzania, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States, along with the United Nations Development Program, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and Organization for Undocumented Migrant Workers.

From what I've observed, the Philippine Government is "SLOW' in making actions about immigrants who are reportedly oppressed. The Government should perform drastic measures in helping these OFW's. By this event, the Philippine Government should shift immediately to a far more "FASTER" system.
